We are very pleased to provide our annual recap of the 2018 BlackHat Defcon Conference held in Vegas in 2018 and DerbyCon held in Louisville. Our presenter will be Tim Lange from the American Financial Group. As always, there are new things of which our organizations should be aware. Here are a few items that Tim will be covering at our next meeting.
- Security Industry growth and impact on Blackhat, Defcon, and DerbyCon
- Hacker Villages playground ~ Overview of interesting things seen and learned from the different hacker villages. There were a few new interesting ones this year.
- Social Engineering – Information to arm yourself against Phishing, Vishing, etc.
- Voting Booths Part Deux – Larger Hacker Village. More talks.
- Mental Health in Cyber Security – It’s a stressful position. What are the health risks?
- Are you trading stocks securely? Several stock trading apps have vulnerabilities.
- The obligatory hacking of devices: iOTs, Medical Devices, Police Body Cameras, Cortana
- Risks on the high seas – Potential or real risks for ships and piracy
- Public WiFi risks. Is it real or hype?
Tim Lange is the Director of Information Security, focusing on Identity and Access Management and Application Security at American Financial Group in Cincinnati, OH. He has been with AFG for 3 years. Prior to AFG, Tim was an Account Delivery Manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise for one of their largest private sector customers focusing on managing all security services and solutions including cyber security, IAM, Audit and Compliance, Incident Response, as well as application security. Tim has a Masters degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Louisville. He has 14+ years of experience leading teams in IT Security and 22+ years overall experience in IT designing, implementing, and managing delivery of end to end complex enterprise solutions in a wide variety of areas including Security, Middleware, and Collaboration. This will be Tim’s third presentation at our Dayton
InfraGard meeting.

All of this has historically been offered at no cost to our members and guests. However, as our chapter continues to move forward, we have operational costs that need to be paid for to continue our chapter. same level as the Berry Room. It is not mandatory to RSVP (to infragard_info [AT] wright [DOT] edu), but it helps with the count. These meeting are open to the public and suitable for any organization.
