About InfraGard

InfraGard is a cooperative undertaking between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and an association of businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants that is dedicated to increasing the security of the critical infrastructures of the United States of America.

In conjunction with our national organization, the Dayton Chapter of Infragard serves to increase the flow of information among members of the private and public sectors on issues of physical and computer infrastructure security. We hope this website will provide a forum to support the organization and development of this chapter. We urge you to contact us with your ideas on how this site might better serve your needs.

Why Do We Need InfraGard?

In the United States, most infrastructure components are privately owned and operated. These infrastructure systems are becoming more complex and vulnerable because the systems are increasingly interconnected, heavily automated, and sometimes global in scope. The government and private sectors have a wealth of information on threats to our infrastructure. InfraGard serves as a link through which this information can be safely shared and analyzed.

The threats on which InfraGard focuses fall into three general categories: unstructured threats such as insiders, or recreational and institutional hackers; structured threats from organized crime, industrial espionage, and terrorists; and national security threats such as those posed by foreign intelligence agencies and information warriors.
